POWER. That about sums up what Prairie View displayed against Osawatomie this past Friday night. The Prairie View Powerlifting Team has been producing state champions the past couple of years, and it is showing on the gridiron.
The Buffalos absolutely trampled the hapless Trojans. It was Osawatomie's first varsity game since the fall of 2023 after it did not have enough players to field a team last year.
The opening kick was returned by the Buffalos for nearly 50 yards and the opening offensive play was an untouched 47 yard touchdown run by senior Parker Schwarz. That was the first of many to come. Schwarz provided the Buffalos with touchdown runs of 47, 37, 56, 6, and 56 yards. He finished with eight carries for 271 yards and five touchdowns. Josh Goodwin chipped in with 136 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns. Freshman Gabe Moore added 92 yards and a 23-yard touchdown on seven carries.

From the beginning, it was clear that the Trojans were overmatched. A 42-yard kick return was followed by a 47-yard touchdown run. The Buffs continued piling on with an onside kick recovery. Two runs of 37 yards by Josh Goodwin led to a short touchdown run by senior quarterback Wyatt Attebery. After a three-and-out by the Trojans, Schwarz followed up with another 37-yard scoring dash. The Trojans went three-and-out again after pass break-ups by Schwarz and Goodwin and a Moore interception.
Three consecutive first down runs by Moore, Goodwin, and an Attebery completion to Jay Muse led to a Goodwin touchdown from the 7 yard line. The Osawatomie offense had just as much trouble as their defense. The next four offensive plays netted just 2 yards, and after a four-and-out Schwarz ran it in from 56 yards out on the very next play.
The Trojans again went four-and-out, and the offense lost 7 yards in total. A short Attebery run led to a 37-yard gut punch touchdown by Goodwin, who just looked like an unstoppable wrecking ball.

The following Osawatomie drive went backwards again, losing 6 yards before punting on fourth down. Schwarz cruised his way for another 36 yards before the first quarter finally came to an end with the Buffalos ahead 41 to zero. A pair of 8-yard runs gave Goodwin his third touchdown of the evening. Two straight incompletions were followed by a very acrobatic interception by Schwarz, breaking up the pass and watching it fall into his arms for the pick. Gabe Moore scored his touchdown two plays later.
The Buffalos ensuing possession was marred by a false start, a holding call, and a person foul against Osawatomie before Schwarz was able to get it in from 17 yards out. Jay Muse ran in a two-point conversion from his holder spot on the point after try. The Trojans followed up with an interception on first down.

The Buffalos began a long march down field, again with several penalties, two holds and a false start. They ended up losing the ball on downs and the Trojans took advantage with a 61-yard touchdown pass from Dodge Browning to Kashton Palmer.
Buffalo head coach Jason Spradling must not have liked what he was seeing from his offense nor defense, so he put the starters back in and Parker Schwarz annihilated the Trojan defense with another touchdown, 56 yards this time, and his final run of the game. A four-and-out by the Trojans and a couple runs by Jayce Williams got the game to halftime with the Buffalos ahead 71-to-6. The second half raced by with a running clock.
The Buffalos ended up with a school record of 71 points as well as largest scoring margin of 65 points. The previous records were both 63-0 shutouts against Burlington in 1998 and against Bishop Ward in 2017. The 580 team rushing yards topped the old mark by one yard. The 10 rushing touchdowns as a team is a new school record. The 611 yards of total offense are second highest in school history, only to the 660 yards the Buffs put up agaisnt Wellsville in 2012. Carlos Cervantes’ seven of seven on point-after kicks tied a school record.
