Debra Ann Martin

Debra was born June 25, 1955, in Columbia, Missouri, the eldest of four children born to Otis Richard Jr. and Jessie Faye (Casner) Cooper. She grew up in several communities throughout Missouri before moving to Kansas. She graduated with the Prairie View High School class of 1973.


Soon after graduation she met her soulmate, Daniel “Dan” Martin, and they were married on June 1, 1974. To this union three children were born: John, Jennifer, and Jeremy. They made their home in Osawatomie until 2010, when they moved to Fontana, Kansas.


Debra worked at Osawatomie State Hospital in the laundry department and later spent several years working in nursing homes before earning her nursing degree. She served as the Charge Nurse at Medical Lodge of Paola until her retirement.


In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting baby blankets, and spending time with her family. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star.


She was preceded in death by her grandson, Anthony Martin, and her parents.


Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Dan of the home; her children, John (Monica) Martin, Jennifer (Dusty) Wilson, and Jeremy (Marcela) Martin; and five grandchildren: Gracie Martin-Fink, Jeffrey Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Jocelyn Wilson, and Jayden Wilson. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Cooper III, Barbara Romig, and Linda Cooper, along with numerous friends and extended family.
