LA CYGNE – La Cygne Police Chief John-Francisco Mariño told the La Cygne City Council at its meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had moved in to execute two search warrants at residences near the intersection of Broadway and Park streets.

Mariño said that the federal agency did not inform local law enforcement about the raid, nor did FBI officials offer any information on what agents were looking for.

He said he was told that the reason the FBI did not inform his department was to insure that there were no leaks about the impending raid before it happened.

In a release, Mariño said that that any information about the raid will come through the FBI, but he would release information as it was released to him. He also said there was no danger to the public.
