MOUND CITY – On Monday, Jan. 9, Linn County Health Department Administrator Missy Lancaster updated the Linn County Commissioners on activities and programs of the health department.

Lancaster told the commissioners that the health department had been asked to come and do something at the Jayhawk-Linn Junior/Senior High School for the student health fair they were having.

Lancaster said the health department got the Kauffman Museum to come and bring their information on vaping. They will show examples of what vaping does to lungs and the body. She said that they would be at the health fair all day Friday.

Lancaster also told the commissioners that the Cepheid machine, the one that tests for COVID, Influenza, RSV and strep testing, received maintenance last week and everything looks good.

Lancaster reported that the department had not done any COVID tests but did route 10 cases that were reported to the state. One flu shot was given, one blood draw, eight immunizations, three tuberculosis (TB) skin tests, one family planning and six women infant and children (WIC) contacts.
