On Friday September 4, the Uniontown Eagles came into Mound City to meet the Jayhawk-Linn Jayhawks. The Eagles came in with the idea of a run game, which happened to be the Jayhawks bread and butter.

Both teams started off slowly as penalties stopped drives. Then, in the second quarter, Jayhawk put a penalty-free drive together and ended up with their first touchdown.

The Jayhawks’ ground offensive was led by London Burk, Gabe Ross, Layne Goodson and Trey Poole on offense as they put pressure on the Eagles with a tough run game.

Ross rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Poole had 89 yards rushing and a touchdown on eight carries.

Uniontown attempted to push back and were led by Kyson Stock. To Uniontown’s frustration, the Jayhawks had a swarming defense that kept Uniontown in check the whole game.

Every time Uniontown started to put a drive together, the Jayhawk defense would force a turnover. Forcing three fumbles and one interception, the Jayhawks kept converting turnovers into scores.

Uniontown made a great effort throughout the game, but the evening belong to the Jayhawks. With several long runs, the Jayhawks ran up a score of 44 points. Uniontown was unable to sustain drives until the fourth quarter when they finally scored 8. That ended up the final score: Jayhawk-Linn 44, Uniontown 8.

The Jayhawks will travel to Northeast in Arma on Friday, Sept. 11.
