La Cygne police conduct second drug raid in last 8 days

LA CYGNE – For the second time in a little over a week, the La Cygne Police Department has executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of a La Cygne resident on drug-related charges.


Police Chief Zachary Mathies issued a press release on Wednesday, Jan. 21.


"On January 20, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers with the La Cygne Police Department executed a search warrant at 114 N. Railroad St. following a months-long investigation into suspected unlawful narcotics activity at the location," the release said..

"During the search, officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia."


As a result of the investigation and search, Mark E. Trinkle was taken into custody and was charged with alleged possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


Trinkle was release from the Linn County jail after posting a $5,000 bond.


The La Cygne Police Department also executed a search warrant on Jan. 13 that resulted in another arrest on drug-related charges.


"All suspects are assumed innocent until proven guilty," the release said.
