An evening with live bands, food trucks, kiosks and a fireworks display is the order of business for La Cygne’s Blast in the Park on Saturday, July 6, at the La Cygne Community Park. The Blast begins at 6 p.m. and will run until the last rocket of the fireworks show blasts into the sky after 9 p.m.

Bands include Frendly Warning, an acoustic band the will open the show. That act will be followed by Cole Fried, a band led by recent Prairie View graduate Cole Holler with his former classmates.

Entertainment for the kids includes bounce houses set up for the event as well as nearby playground equipment.

Organized by the city of La Cygne with help from the La Cygne Chamber of Commerce, the event will be a great time to hang out and visit with friends and neighbors, according to Jodi Wade, La Cygne city clerk.

Last year families and friends arrived with lawn chairs and coolers, catching up with friends and chatting with people who walked by.

Of course there will plenty of food and snacks available at the park, including Pink Taco, Small Town Boys Smoked Meat, Mammoth Mouth freeze-dried candies, Kayla’s Cookie Co., It’s Poppin’ Kettle Corn, and Paletta KC and Shivers Ice House serving frozen treats. Blue Dog Wine will also be on hand.

Nearly a dozen other vendors will be there, including Bujee Pet and Home Boutique, JNR Designs, Mudd & Magnolia Kids, Crazy Bleaches Creation, Emma Stone crochet items, The Pampered Pup, Glamour Girl, Hometown Ts as well as Scentsy and Mary Kay representatives.

The layout of the park for the event is on the map below. Volunteers will be seeking donations for next year’s event when visitors pull into the park. Parking for handicapped visitors will be provided.
