Leo Francis Hoehn

September 26, 1933 — February 27, 2026

Leo Francis Hoehn, age 92, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at his home. He was born September 26, 1933, in Lenexa, Kansas. Leo was the fifth of seven children born to Max and Irene (Klein) Hoehn.


On July 20, 1957, Leo was united in marriage to Margaret Riggs at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. To this union, three children were born: Julie, Tom, and Chris. Leo and Margaret made their home in Lenexa for many years before later moving to Paola, where they continued to build a life centered on faith and family.


Leo was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He began his career working for the railroad as a switchman before entering the printing industry. He worked for Rigby Lithograph Printing and later for Fine Art as a pressman, where he dedicated approximately 20 years before retiring. Not one to stay idle, Leo then drove a truck for Penny’s Concrete Company for about seven years before fully retiring.


In his spare time, Leo enjoyed farming wheat, milo, and soybeans. He also enjoyed cutting wood and cherished the time he spent taking his children hunting and fishing. Leo and Margaret were blessed to travel to France and Hawaii with friends, creating memories they treasured.


Leo was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa and later attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #7397 in Lenexa and the Lenexa Gun Club.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Mark Grote; and his siblings, Florence Austin, Ralph Hoehn, Dorothy Jesberg, Art Hoehn, and Cecil Hoehn.


Leo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret, of the home; his children, Julie Grote of Louisburg, Kansas, Tom (Dana) Hoehn of Paola, Kansas, and Chris (Marcia) Hoehn of Wellsville, Kansas; his sister, Rita DeBrabander; seven grandchildren, Jason (Crystal) Grote, Jennifer (Jason) Kush, Jesse (Ali) Hoehn, Corey (Jacinda) Hoehn, Travis Hoehn, Ashley (Adrian) Smith, and Zach (Jordan) Hoehn; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.


Visitation is 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Parish Center in Paola on Thursday, March 5, followed by Rosary 10 a.m. and Mass at 10:30, all at Holy Trinity Chapel. Graveside service will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery-39644 K-68 Hwy, Wellsville, KS 66092 at 1 p.m. with military honors.
