Linn Valley Independence Day celebration set for Saturday

Linn Valley Lakes’ Independence Day celebration’s two main events, the parade and the fireworks displays, are set for Saturday evening, July 1. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.


But there are a host of activities on Saturday to get the celebration started.

At 5:30 a.m. the adult fishing tournament at the Main Lake boat ramp. That is followed by the

kids fishing tournament at 5 Acre Lake that starts at 9 a.m.


It’s a Saturday, and the LVL farmers market will be open as usual from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Property Owners Association office.


Beginning at 11 a.m., lunch and snow cones will be served at the Linn Valley fire station until supplies run out.


At 2 p.m., activities shift to the clubhouse. At 2 p.m. there will be kids crafts on the upper level, and at 3 p.m. bingo begins on the lower level.


From 5 to 6 p.m. raffle tickets will be sold and free snow cones and cotton candy will be given away in the clubhouse parking lot.


The Independence Day parade is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Kids bike decoration will start at 4:45, and parade participants will need to check in at Bath House 2 at 5 p.m.


As always, decorated golf carts, floats, and bikes are encouraged for the parade. Horses and classic cars are also welcomed, and so are people who want to just walk in the parade.

Later in the evening following the parade, fireworks will be launched off the Main Lake dam about 9:30 p.m.


Also the Linn Valley Fire Department will sell fireworks through July 4 as a fundraiser.


There are also some activities on Sunday, July 2, as well, registration for LVL disc golf is at 8 a.m., and there will be bingo at 3 p.m. at the clubhouse.
