Journal staff report

Linn Valley’s Fourth of July celebration, a three-day affair,  is expected to live up to what is now tradition: a spectacular fireworks show off the Main Lake dam, a long parade featuring decorated golf carts and other vehicles, and a boat parade on the lake. The population swells up to five times as many people during the Independence Day holiday.

The celebration begins Friday evening, July 3, with the fireworks display on the Main Lake dam. Fireworks are always more spectacular over water, and the Linn Valley show is no exception.

On Saturday, July 4, three activities begin at 9 a.m.: the farmers’ market at the community center parking lot, a pancake breakfast at Linn Valley Community Church, and a kids fishing tournament at 5 Acre Lake.

At noon, the parade entries begin lining up at Bath House No. 2 at noon, and at 12:30 p.m. the long line will begin snaking its way down the side streets toward the clubhouse.

The boat parade begins at the boat launch at 5 p.m., with line-up beginning at 4:45 p.m. The theme of the parade is “Party in the USA – Celebrating 250 Years.”

On Sunday, July 5, a disc golf tournament begins at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. Tournament fee is $10. The events conclude with bingo at the clubhouse at 2 p.m.
