PLEASANTON – Pleasanton Police Chief Tristan Snyder reported on Monday that city and county first responders have raised about $10,000 for Pleasanton’s annual Angel Tree Project. He said that police officers as well as city and county firefighters had participated in the fundraising project.
The funds, which includes a $3,000 grant from Walmart, are used to help disadvantaged families provide a better Christmas for their families.
The deadline for applying for the program is noon on Monday, Dec. 1.
City Administrator Becky Hegwald said that the fundraising efforts yielded about the same amount of money as last year.
Snyder also reported on the activities of his department since the beginning of the month. That included 1265 calls, 48 stops, two arrests, and five drug cases. He also said the department would be focusing on the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) activities. STEP is a high-visibility campaign to reduce traffic violations and accidents by focusing on specific laws like seat belt or impaired driving laws.
