Pleasanton woman injured in motorcycle accident

PLEASANTON – A 41-year-old Pleasanton woman suffered a compound leg fracture and was taken by air ambulance to a hospital following a single-vehicle accident at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27.

Jana R. Speedone was the passenger on a 1989 Harley Davidson Sport motorcycle driven by 41-year-old John W. Bright of rural Mound City when the motorcycle apparently slid on loose gravel, according to a report filed by Linn County Sheriff’s Deputy Angie Mitchell.

The accident occurred as the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on 1150 Road just west of the intersection with Olinger Road. According to the deputy’s report, the driver tried to maintain control before going into the ditch and riding the bank of the ditch for more than 300 feet before apparently striking a tree.

According to the report, Bright went to a nearby residence to report the accident. There was no indication the driver was impaired. Bright apparently was not injured.
