This week and the next few weeks will be a good time to clean out closets and donate items that will help Prairie View students.
The Prairie View Educational Foundation is sponsoring a “FUNDrive” over the next month beginning on Friday. The goal is to collect about 125 large trash bags of clothes and household textiles weighing about 20 pounds each.
For the first week of the drive, clothes will be dropped off at the Prairie View High School Vo-Ag shop on the east side of the school this Friday, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. before the football game.
Collections will also be held on Sept. 30 and Oct. 14 with the same hours and at the Vo-Ag shop.
Looking for winter clothes and other items, foundation volunteers will be collecting men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes, coats, shoes, scarves, handbags, wallets, fashion accessories, ties, belts, backpacks and other items.
They will also accept household textiles such as bedding, blankets, comforters, sheets, towels, linens, tablecloths, curtains, pillows, and similar household goods.
The foundation is hoping to raise at least $500, and the money will be used for scholarships and teacher mini-grants.
