Journal staff report

Five new members were inducted into the National Honor Society at Prairie View during a candlelight ceremony on March 3. The new members bring the PVHS chapter up to 19 members for the school year.

The committee that selects students for NHS membership considers each nominee's academic performance, service to the community, leadership, and character. Students in the 10th through 12th grades are eligible for NHS membership. Sponsor for the prestigious group is science teacher Amanda Younger.

The current NHS members who were inducted in previous years included six seniors: Danica Brake, Avarielle Hightower, Abigail Holler, Bailey Hughes, Parker Schwarz, and Kimball Uphoff.

Eight juniors were members prior to the induction ceremony. Those students included Gabrianna Cullor, Grace Cullor, Kelsee Haupt, Kiersten McCarty, Mary Ryan, Ahnalee Schwien, Laramie Stevens, and Matthew Stolle.
