Roland L. Weir

Roland L. Weir, age 77, formerly of La Cygne, Kansas, passed away in Yates Center, Kansas, on July 7, 2024. He was born the son of Beulah Bledsoe on July 9, 1946, in La Cygne, Kansas. Growing up and living in La Cygne all his life, he graduated from La Cygne High School in 1965. Roland married Glenda Davenport in July of 1969. Together they had three sons and split time living between Kansas and California. They divorced in the late '90s.


Roland spent most of his life working in home construction doing anything from building to custom work. He truly loved the great American muscle cars. Roland also loved his sports, keeping up with his grand kid's sports, along with KU Jayhawks basketball, Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed watching drag racing and NASCAR.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Wier and Beulah, his ex-wife Glenda Davenport (Weir), and a nephew Adam. Roland is survived by three sons, Roland Weir Jr. and wife Leslie of Iola, Ks; Anthony Weir of Roeland Park, Ks; and David Weir of Olathe, Ks; a sister, Judy Snow of Parker, Ks; two nephews and one niece; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
