Three arrested in suspected chop shop raid

LA CYGNE – According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, two Missouri men and one Louisburg resident were arrested on Thursday, June 8, following an incident on 2350 Road east of Young Road in rural Linn County.

The men were found in a machine shed on private property. The suspects were allegedly disassembling vehicles inside the structure. Deputies and detectives from the Linn County Sheriff's Office were able to catch the three suspects in the act and arrested all three without incident.


The Bates County (Mo.) Sheriff was notified of the burglary in progress and assisted Linn County in making the arrests.


Charged in the incident were Raymond C. Herndon of Louisburg, Charles M. Smith

of Drexel, Mo., and Christopher J. Irvin, Archie, Mo. All three suspects were charged with alleged burglary and criminal damage to property. Herndon was also charged with alleged possession of a narcotic.


The three suspects are currently housed in the Linn County Jail on a bond of $25,000 each. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
