MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners received reports from the ambulance and fire department services on Monday, April 13.
Fire Chief Randy Hegwald gave the weekly report. The report showed that there were six total calls for the past week which brings the yearly total up to 210 calls. The calls were two wildland fires, one emergency medical assist, one motor vehicle accident, and two power lines down.
Hegwald requested an executive session for 10 minutes on non-elected personnel, job performance with County Counselor Jacklyn Paletta, the two commissioners Alison Hamilton and Jim Johnson, and himself.
Then Hegwald asked the commissioners to approve Tommy Lawson as a probationary firefighter for the Prescott Fire Station pending pre-employment physical and drug screening. Lawson’s appointment will fill the 10th position out of the 15 that can be on that roster. The commissioners approved that appointment.
Hegwald asked the commissioners to approve Jim Stanley as a probationary firefighter for the Pleasanton Fire Station pending all pre-employment screenings. His position will be 20 out of the 22 approved for that roster. The commissioners approved Stanley’s appointment.
Hegwald presented six bids from suppliers for bunker gear. There were seven bids but one came in late. The bids the commissioners read were from:
