Buffalo shooters take 3rd in junior varsity, novice divisions

SEDGWICK, Kan. – The Prairie View Buffalo trapshooting team walked away from the Class 2A state meet on Sunday, June 21, with two team trophies, two individual champions and four top-10 finishes. It was the best showing the team has had since its inception.
Both the novice and the junior varsity teams placed third in their division. Nathaniel Herring took the male junior varsity championship with a score of 95, and Gage Boyd’s score of 86 was good enough for male novice champion.
Prairie View’s 13-shooter roster had only one varsity competitor, Heath Schull, who shot an 82 out of 100 targets.
For the junior varsity team, Herring winning the junior varsity championship on a three-way tie breaker. Herring was also second overall junior varsity shooter in the 2A division.

Edward Riley – 88
Kimball Uphoff – 85
Cooper Oliphant – 77
McCool was also eighth overall and Riley 25th overall in junior varsity. The combined Buffalo junior varsity score was 437 out of 500 possible points.

In the novice class, Boyd edged out the second-place finisher by one point to win the male novice championship.

Watson was sixth place novice mail, Moore was 21st place novice male, McCarty was 26th place novice female, and Hurt was 39th place novice female. The team total for the novice division was 350 out of 500 possible.
