Fire, ambulance calls for week ending April 4

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners received reports from the ambulance and fire department services on Monday, April 6.


Fire Chief Randy Hegwald gave the weekly report. The report showed that there were 7 total calls for the past week which brings the yearly total up to 204 calls. The calls were two wildland fires, two emergency medical assists, two fire alarms and one power line down.


Hegwald told the commissioners that he had some protocols written for the junior fire fighter program and wanted to know if the commission would like to see if there was anything they wanted to change before he approached the insurance company with it.


Commission Chair Alison Hamilton asked Hegwald to email it to the commissioners so they could look it over before next week.


American Medical Response (AMR) operations manager Dawn Brooks gave the  report from April 1 through April 5 which showed there had been a total of 25 calls resulting in 10 transports. The average response time is 7 minutes 52 seconds. The calls by city were:


  • Blue Mound, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Centerville, 0 calls, 0 transportS

  • Fulton, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Greeley, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • La Cygne, 10 calls, 3 transports

  • Fontana, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Lane, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Linn Valley, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Mapleton, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Rich Hill, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Mound City, 8 calls, 3 transports

  • Parker, 0 calls, 0 transports

  • Pleasanton 7 calls, 4 transports

  • Prescott, 0 calls, 0 transports


Response numbers and times for this time period by Commission Districts are:


District 1 – 10 responses, 2 transports, 7 minutes 5 seconds average response time

District 2 – 11 responses, 5 transports, 6 minutes 2 seconds average response time
