Jacob Thomas "Jake" Hays, age 34, Colcord, Oklahoma, formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025.  He was born on April 13, 1990, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Jody Purinton Hays.  


He graduated from Pleasanton High School in the Class of 2008.  He was united in marriage to Meghan Ashley Butler on June 18, 2011.  She preceded him in death.  


He worked at Simmons in Siloam, Arkansas as a forklift driver.  He loved his family and spending time with friends.  He enjoyed making people laugh with a personality that would light up the room.  He always knew the right thing to say at the right moment.  


He was also preceded in death by his father, Thomas Hays.  Jake is survived by two sons, Hayden Mell, and Layne Mell; his parents, Rick and Jody Wright; maternal grandparents, Dan and Louisa Purinton; paternal grandmother, Sue Wright; sister, Danielle Souza (Ben); brother, Wesley Hays; and several nieces and nephews.  


Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Cremations, Pleasanton Chapel.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday.  Memorial contributions may be made to Schneider Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
