JoLayne Mullins

JoLayne Mullins, age 73, of Shawnee Mission, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Sunday October 5, 2025 after an extended chronic illness.


JoLayne was born April 20, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, the beloved daughter of Emmitt Bert and Ceola Mae (Dixon) Mullins. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1970.


Following high school, JoLayne pursued her love of music at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she earned her degree in music. A talented musician with a beautiful voice, JoLayne shared her gift generously throughout her life.


As a young adult, she was an active member of the Osawatomie United Methodist Church, later attending Shawnee United Methodist Church, where she joyfully participated in the choir. Her strong faith and devotion to God were constants in her life, guiding her as a dedicated Christian and faithful servant.


JoLayne was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her cousins Nona Young, Joe Dudley, and Brenda Dudley Burras, along with many other extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.


Graveside Service 11 am Thursday October 9, 2025 at Osawatomie Cemetery.
