Journal staff report

LA CYGNE – On Sunday, Feb. 22, the La Cygne Library will host its 17th annual Cabin Fever Reliever event, a fundraising event that helps the library staff to provide a number of programs to area residents and children. The event, which will be held in the Great Room on the north side of rhe building, begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.

The Reliever features a soup and chili cook-off where entrants bring in a soup or chili dish and diners vote on which one is best. Contestants bring their special soup or chili and donate it to the cause.

Diners make a free-will donation for the chilis or soups of their choice, along with a desert and drink. Winners will be determined by the number of tickets that diners place in their jar.

Bakers and cooks are encouraged to make a dessert for the event, and those are auctioned off toward the end of the evening.

Library supporters have made nearly two dozen gift baskets that will be auctioned off as well. The proceeds from that auction will benefit the Friends of the Library organization.

One other event will be a cake walk, where participants buy tickets and hope they will be on the spot that wins the cake.
