Emergency management, ambulance reports for June 8

Journal staff report

MOUND CITY – On Monday, June 8, the Linn County Commissioners heard a brief report from Linda Simons, interim emergency management coordinator, and read the ambulance report.

Simons told the commissioners that she is working on the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). She said will also have a debris management plan as part of it. She said she had met with Public Works Administrator Jesse Walton and Information Technology Director Chris Martin to go over the capabilities that Linn County has as far as debris management. If something would take out a large section of houses ,how would the county handle that kind of debris.

“I also either want to do a table top or just a meeting with city public works people because we have to have a designated debris site for every community,” she said. “ I just need to go over all that information with them so that they know and they have input into where we would put stuff as an initial debris site.”

“I still would like to do a tabletop to test communications with radios and things like that with our people, but that’s in the works,” she added.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The American Medical Response (AMR) report showed that from June 1 through June 8, there had been a total of 66 calls resulting in 16 transports.
