Fire, ambulance, emergency management reports for June 15

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners received reports from the ambulance, fire department and emergency management services on Monday, June 15.

Interim Fire Chief Brian Shroyer gave the weekly fire report. Shroyer said there were seven calls the previous week. There were two storm watches, one gas leak, two motor vehicle accidents, and two emergency medical service (EMS) assists.

Shroyer reported that some firefighters had attended a fire school in Caney, Kan. over the weekend. He said there was another one coming  up in Girard that he thinks some firefighters will attend.

Interim Emergency Management Coordinator Linda Simons reported to the commissioners  that she had been working on the emergency operations plan (EOP) and the debris emergency plan. She had been working with the EOP mapper, the state mapping program, that the county is required to do.

Simons said that County Clerk Chasity Ware was going to let her know when there were large groups scheduled for events at the fairgrounds so that they could be notified in the event of a storm. She said that the past weekend she had sent out emails to the sheriff, fire department, and dispatch to notify them that there were people meeting at the fairgrounds.

Simons said that both the Sheriff James Akes and Shroyer had gone down and talked with them about the severe weather and notified them that the Bunker Hill Center was open for a shelter if needed.

American Medical Response (AMR) operations manager Dawn Brooks gave the  report from June 1 through June 14, which showed there had been a total of 140 calls resulting in 34 transports. The average response time is 17 minutes 49 seconds. The calls by city were:

• Centerville, 5 calls, 2 transports

• Fulton, 2 calls, 0 transports

• La Cygne, 53 calls, 12 transports

• Fontana, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Lane, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Linn Valley, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Mapleton, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Rich Hill, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Mound City, 27 calls, 9 transports

• Parker, 0 calls, 0 transports

• Pleasanton 27 calls, 9 transports

• Prescott, 10 calls, 2 transports

Response numbers and times for this time period by Commission Districts are:

District 1 – 50 responses, 12 transports, 11 minutes 16 seconds average response time

District 2 – 40 responses, 11 transports, 8 minutes average response time

District 3 – 50 responses, 11 transports, 17 minutes 49 seconds average response time
