Fire, ambulance report for first week of March

MOUND CITY – The Linn County Commissioners received reports from the ambulance and fire department services on Monday, March 9.
Fire Chief Randy Hegwald reported that there were nine total calls for the past week which brings the yearly total up to 125 calls. The calls were one wildland fire, five emergency medical services, one vehicle accident, one fire alarm, and one gas leak.,
The commissioners approved hiring Truman Snyder to the Mound City station as a volunteer firefighter pending pre-employment physical and drug screening. Hegwald said this puts the roster at Mound City at 13 out of 15 total slots.
The commissioners reviewed the American Medical Response (AMR) report for March 1 through March 8 from operations manager Dawn Brooks who was unable to attend the meeting. The report showed there had been a total of 42 calls resulting in 22 transports. The average response time was 17 minutes 58 seconds. The calls by city were:
