Marilyn Ruth (Dotson) Kittrell of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday December 11, 2022, at North Care Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Marilyn was born January 23, 1948 in Kansas City, Kan. She was one of fourteen children born to Walter George and Mildred Grace (Johnson) Dotson. She grew up in Parker, Kan., graduating from Parker High School.


After high school, Marilyn got a job at Hallmark in Lawrence, Kan., for a short time. She married Douglass E. Kittrell in Osawatomie, Kan. To this union came three daughters; Sonya, Tara and Aimee. The family lived in various places as Osawatomie, Gardner and Kansas City, Mo.


Marilyn worked as a security guard at Kansas City International Airport and she also sold Avon for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and could make a wonderful meal from very little ingredients. Marilyn sang religious hymns, Amazing Grace was her favorite. When her daughters were younger she would take them to Sunday school at St. James Catholic Church. Marilyn was a beautiful, loving and caring mother and grandmother.


She was preceded in death by her parents and ten brothers and sisters.


Survivors include her daughters, Sonya Kittrell, Tara Kittrell and Aimee Kittrell; granddaughter, Paris Martin-Kittrell; three brothers, Dan Dotson, Robert Dotson and Don Dotson; father of her daughters, Douglass Kittrell; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
